Know No Fear

Just wanted to throw a quick one up today. I was having a horrible day, when I get a phone call from my LGS telling me to come to the store because he has something for me.  I show up and he hands me my copy of the latest book in the Horus Heresy series Know No Fear. I'm stoked, my day was saved, and now I am busy devouring every fantastic word written down.  Stay tuned for a review here soon.  Anyway, I'm going back to reading, talk to you soon.....

My Belial WIP

For today's post I'm going to keep it short and sweet.  I just want to show a few pictures Of my Belial.  I have him fully assembled, and I have just started to put down some base coats, so ignore the painting, I still have a way to go, I am such a slow (lazy) painter.  Shin pads I got off some bits I got at Scibor which I used for my Custodes.  Biggest pain this time was shaving the head to fit into the terminator body.

I opted for using dred shinguards for the shoulder pads this time.  Still used the tutorial for extended collar pieces found at From the Warp

It's kinda hard to see (and I guess thats a good thing), but to make the cape work with the shoulder pads I had to break off the wolf head and create green stuff fur to stretch over the gap.  I've started blocking out my base colors.  Still have the cloak to do, then it's on to washes and thin layers for the armor.  I'm thinking red glowing claws to add a counter-point.  My goal is to finish painting him this weekend.  We'll see, like I said I am a notoriously slow (lazy) painter.  That's one of my goals in doing this Blog, getting to be a better painter.

I'm also going to play with the foil for the base.  I like the texture, I'm not exactly sure how it will work, but I'm going to give it a shot.  Wish me luck, and as always comments and critques welcome.

Pre-Heresy Thousand Sons pics and update

First off my apologies for the slowness in updates.  The last few weeks have been real work intensive and I have had zero time for the hobby.  Any way thankfully my schedule is getting lighter and regular updates should be forth-coming.

First up for today is some shots of my five man 1k Sons.  They are base-coated and I have applied a couple of washes.  I have to still add highlights and pick out some details.  Also leaning towards green glowing force weapons and maybe eyes, hmmm, not sure we will have to see.

I tried using From The Warp's tutorial on over-sized shoulder pads, goes without saying he is way better than me.  But for my first attempt I'm reasonably happy.  The cardboard wasn't working too well for me so I ended up using part cereal box and part of the plastic from a For Sale sign for the shoulder pads, and just the For Sale sign for the collar.  Other than that I tried to follow the tutorial the best my meager abilities allow.

And lastly a squad shot as of now.  They are all blue-tac'd onto the bases so I can still get games in with them.  I have a bunch of temple faces from Scibor to do the actual basing with.

Well, I'm still alive, and still going to make this whole thing work.  I've got a squad of Custodes built that I will post up next time.  Until then, thanks for reading, and as always Comments and Critiques are welcome.
